چکیده

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are 19to 26-nucleotide RNAs that regulate gene expression. Over 700 human miRNAgenes have been identified, with one report predicting close to 1000. Recent computational methods indicatethat up to 92% of human genes may be regulated by miRNA. In this chapter, we discuss recent progress inmiRNA biology and their roles in human disease pathogenesis, as well as opportunities and challenges ofmiRNA-based therapies.TXCC 00223

Physiological and Pathological Roles for MicroRNAs: Implications for Immunity Complications

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding regulatory RNAs molecules with a size of approximately 22 nucleotides that are implicated in regulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional regulatory levels. Inflammatory disorders especially autoimmune diseases (ADs) occur from an abnormal immune response of body against cells of their own specific tissues or multiple organ systems leading to ch...

The roles of RFamide-related peptides (RFRPs), mammalian gonadotropin-inhibitory hormone (GnIH) orthologues in female reproduction

Objective(s): To benefit from reproduction and deal with challenges in the environmental conditions, animals must adapt internal physiology to maximize the reproduction rate. Maladaptive variations in the neurochemical systems and reproductive system can lead to manifestation of several significant mammalian reprocesses, including mammalian ovarian lifespan. RFamide-related peptide (RFRP, Rfrp)...

MicroRNAs in heart failure: Small molecules with major impact

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as potent modulators of mammalian gene expression, thereby broadening the spectrum of molecular mechanisms orchestrating human physiological and pathological cellular functions. Growing evidence suggests that these small non-coding RNA molecules are pivotal regulators of cardiovascular development and disease. Importantly, multiple miRNAs have been specifically i...

Effects of microRNAs polymorphism in cancer progression

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known as a new class of small RNAs (18-25 nucleotides) that regulate gene expression at multiple levels from transcription to translation. Considering the important role of miRNAs in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis, any variations in their expression can contribute to various anomalies, such as tumorigenesis. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have ...

MicroRNAs in cardiovascular biology and heart disease.

MicroRNAs play important roles in many cellular and biological functions via the regulation of mRNA target translation. In the cardiovascular field, microRNAs are now acknowledged as fundamental in regulating the expression of genes that governs physiological and pathological myocardial adaptation to stress. Here, we review recent progress in the understanding of microRNA functions and their in...
